Jan Hermans is one of the newest staff
members at Visionaries and Voices, but she’s no stranger
to the world of V & V art. Jan began volunteering at V &
V in 2007. She taught art classes and worked individually with
different artists for about six months, before accepting the
position of Northside Studio Director in May of 2008.
Jan previously worked for Living Arrangements
for the Developmentally Disabled, where she completed a 3-month
training program about working with individuals with disabilities.
Having obtained a liberal arts degree with several concentrations,
one of them being art, from Xavier University, Jan puts a high
value on education. Education is one of the reasons Jan loves
V & V. She loves seeing the program teach the artists to
value their self-worth.
When creating her own art, Jan focuses
on fiber art, but also enjoys printmaking and paint. Jan is
a member of the Wilmington Quilters Guild, and loves horses,
camping, kayaking, and canoeing. She hopes to strengthen Visionaries
and Voices’ connections with high schools, and work with
schools so students are encouraged to come to V & V. Jan
is a resident of Anderson Township.
