About Kathy
Kathy Brannigan is a draftswoman who often combines pen, ink, pencil, and paint in her intricately detailed work. Her subjects range from Mickey Mouse and rocket ships to flora and fauna, brought to light through a cubist-meets blind-contour style. Within her illustrations images flow from one object into the next. ?Psychic automatism, in its pure state,? as described by Andre? Breton in his 1924 Surrealist Manifesto would also be an appropriate description of Brannigan?s work. Similar to the automatic drawing done by the surrealists Kathy creates her works using a small brush or marker to add color stroke by stroke, free of rationalization or a concern for formality. Kathy?s preferred materials include markers, watercolor, oil pastels, linoleum block prints and acrylic paint. A Visionaries and Voices artist since 2006, Brannigan was the curator for the Landscape, Wildlife, Skin exhibition at Banner Ross Gallery and is currently co-curating a drawing show for 2012. Her work has been shown at various venues in and around Cincinnati. She is excited about exhibiting her art on the internet so that people all over the world can see it.

Exhibitions
Kathy's works have been exhibited at Essex Studios, Visionati I and II, Middletown Fine Arts Center, Pyramid Hill Art Fair, Taylor Jamison Hair Salon, The American Classical Music Hall of Fame, ArtWorks, University Gallery on Sycamore, Lindner Center of Hope, V&V?s Northside Gallery in all five exhibitions during the grant period, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and Slotin Folk Art Festival in Atlanta, Ga.
