ICONS: QUEER WORSHIP OF CELEBRITY

Visionaries and Voices is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition entitled ICONS: Queer Worship of Celebrity organized by guest curator Josh Porter and featuring artists Claire Thompson and Scott Walker, as well as 10 icons from V+V artists and staff. The exhibition opens Friday, May 17th, and will run in conjunction with JOY FUEL Pride workshops and activities at V+V made possible by ArtsWave Pride Grant. 

This exhibition takes our understanding of a Byzantine Catholic icon and applies that to contemporary pop culture celebrities. In ICONS: Queer Worship of Celebrity, these artworks and celebrities become icons in their own right; serving as images of worship and devotion for those in the LGBTQ+ community. From Judy Garland to Lindsay Lohan, this exhibition exists as a place for visitors to immerse themselves in the wondrous glory of those who have defined pop culture.
