Visionaries + Voices SHOW OF HANDS Puppeteers-in-Residence, Renee Martin! Renee will work with V+V artists to co-create a new puppet show and lead a free workshop for anyone to attend.
Renee is an educator, architect, and artist, currently working in puppets and other inhabitable and mechanical objects. Her favorite medium is fun trash shapes. She co-created and produced In the Presence Of for Cincy Fringe 2025 and On Maintenance for Cincy Fringe 2021, and Fishing in the Shade, The Starry Night, Eyebrows, and Cicada Striptease for previous Show of Hands Puppet Festivals.

Build an articulated animal puppet that jumps, swings, crawls, slithers, swims, or flaps! This beginner-friendly workshop introduces participants to a simple joint and how it makes all sorts of animal movements possible.

River Rat Puppet Collective, based in Cincinnati, Ohio aims to create experiences of wonder and to bring puppetry to those who need it most. The group highly values synergistic play and experimentation, with an emphasis on creative reuse materials.

Join River Rat Puppet Collective as they lead you through building your own puppets with recycled materials! Bring your used bottles, old bicycle tire inner tubes, toilet paper rolls, styrofoam leftover from packages, and any other former piece of trash you can think of to give it new life. Some materials and whimsy will be provided.
