HERBERT PATTERSON
HERBERT PATTERSON
Herbert Patterson utilizes the imagery of cars and racing iconography to create a world of his own. The logos and icons of this world suggest speed, strength, and competition while the hand drawn quality is something softer and more personal. At first glance, there is an immediate cool factor to his work as pop icons were originally intended. The longer and deeper someone looks, references begin to unfold of personal narratives. Most of the cars have a relation to a family member or friend that begins to become autobiographical. His work continues to be worked embellishing and pushing almost to the point of absurdity, always trying to one up the other racer.
