IN TOUCH
GUEST CURATED BY MORGAN MCKNIGHT
In Touch brings together artists whose practices are rooted in haptic processes–works that were made with the hand, by the body, and with the knowledge carried in materials. The artists were selected for their emphasis on physical engagement: pushing, tearing, wrapping, tying, or shaping that reveals the artist’s tactile dialogue with their medium. Touch is not only a method, but a message, where process becomes visible residue.
These pieces contain traces of movement, tension, pressure, and rhythm, as well as evidence of the environment in which they were created. They record embodied gestures shaped by impulse, repetition, and improvisation, to suggest a shared language of physicality. We engage with the world through our bodies– bodies that grasp, reach, fumble, and hold.
