ADAM MALONEY
Multi-media artist Adam Maloney works in drawing, installation art, and sound art including audio installation. Typically working non-traditional on everyday found surfaces such as cardboard and reclaimed consumer packaging, the artist is concerned with issues of nuclear terrorism, classic 1980’s video games, science fiction, and an ongoing fetishism of the female form.
Maloney honed his craft as an artist even before he experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as the result of a car wreck in 2002 when he was just 18—attending the Art Academy for a semester prior to his accident, and finishing his college degree with a Bachelors of Arts in History (Fringe Post-Modern concentration on the Western Orientalist Perception of the Middle East and Western Imperialistic Corruption Concerning the Middle East) at the University of Cincinnati in 2012.
Maloney’s biggest influences are danger, guerrilla art, pop culture, and impermanence. His 2D compositions (sometimes left in public spaces) are often available for free or given away, and of his sound art compositions, the artist says, “I am very interested in creating an atmosphere of danger with sound”.
The artist has been attending Visionaries & Voices studios since 2008, and he describes his work as “Pop Romanticism”.
