NIKI KISER
Niki Kiser makes drawings of characters with whom she identifies. Interested in stories from popular culture, common subjects Niki illustrates are TV shows and films like The Simpsons, Rainman, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Niki uses markers, crayons, and colored pencils to create fun, familiar, and identifiable subjects, who she draws through her own lens of compassion—often sharing the stories of her character-driven compositions with any interested viewers. She deliberately picks subjects who she admires and knows a lot about, and therefore Niki’s drawings are often celebratory portraits of persons who she appreciates and with whom she feels a kind of kinship.
